Hola Chicos,

Barcelona has been keeping me busy. It´s such an interesting city. There is a little bit of everything: the beach, lots of parks, museums for all my favorite artists, beautiful markets, nightlife, shopping, and much more. It´s hard to get used to the crowds and the language barrier, but it´s all very exciting. There is so much I want to do!

My family is also quite interesting. They are from Africa, Guini (?) I think. The mom is extremely nice, but we still don´t understand each other well at all. The children are nice, they enjoy American rap and hip hop... very loud rap and hip hop. The father is still a mystery. We haven´t met him yet, but I have some theories about why that is. Yesterday a lot of extended family came over for the entire day. My roommate and I had lunch with them, but neither of us were feeling great and the food was very different (possibly African cuisine) and we could barely choke it down. We felt so rude, but we had to leave and just lay down in our room. All the rest of our meals at home have been great, really healthy and flavorful.

I´m getting pretty good at navigating... except when it comes to metro stops. We´ve gotten turned around nearly every time we get off. I´ve still yet to find a decent sized supermarket or similar store that would have more options of packaged food and shampoo and such. That is my mission for today. I also hope to meet up with Donna before she leaves town, but communication has been limited.

I think this computer is about to kick me off though, so I will write more later. I´m off to explore and spend more money I´m sure. Classes started today and I´ve got to buy books later.

Miss you all mucho! Let me know what´s up in the states!
-Erin

Hi Tinker>>>>>
No, I am not yelling at the computer. Meghan thinks that I know "nothing" about how this communication thing works.
Glad you are having fun and seeing the city. I am very interested in your theories on where the dad is. Things here are fine, getting back to abnormal as dad would say.
Only about two weeks before Megz leaves. Let me know soon about the Europass. Love you lots. Keep taking care of yourself. Love, Mom

I love that mom still calls it a 'europass' it is not a pass with lots of euro on it.. it is a Eurail pass... a pass with lots of train passes on it. silly mom. And she would have yelled at the computer had I not shown up... you know. And yes those theories about your dad would be interesting to hear about.. you should type those up some time. You may not be able to find shampoo in a grocery store it may need to be more of a beauty supply store. I know things in Spain are different than Italy but maybe. I was told that Barcelona is supposed to havea pretty easy metro system and Paris the most complicated, but that didn't stop me from getting lost in Barcelona and to everywhere I needed to go in Paris. You'll figure it out soon enough. Be sure to find cool places for us to go when I get there... you get to be my own personal guide. Oh and mom said that Bearington has an add for gay bears on his website.. poor thing he's just a little bear.

Hey Erin! I am loving reading your entries. I wish I had interesting things to write. The only news I can think of is that Jill DeMott is having a baby boy - so Will will have a playmate!
I wrote you one time that didn't get posted - I will see if I can do it right this time!
Love, Mary
